Jobsite for a young demographic

  • Category: UI Design
  • Client: Safeway
  • Project date: 2011-2013
  • Project: jobpod.ca (inactive)

The Product:

Jobpod.ca (now offline) was created to be the face of Safeway’s recruitment campaign focussed on reaching the younger demographic.

The Challenge:

To connect with young jobseekers in a way that is fun, interesting, artistic, and different than all the other jobsites. It was an opportunity for Safeway to creatively inform prospective young people about the company, all it’s different opportunities (corporate and store level), compensation levels, benefits, locations, and much more. We had to accomplish all those goals in a dynamic Flash-based website (with assistance from marketing materials, contests, and giveaways)..

The Work:

Some small visual insights of the end product

Quick website walkthrough (animated GIF)
  • Here’s a small glimpse of the end product. Full creative background centred around a digital navigation with content panels that swap in and out for each of the different sections.

The Solution:

I was given free autonomy to create something artistic yet digital that would resonate with the younger demographic. The Flash medium allowed us to create vivid visual transitions between each of the content sections. Safeway even allowed us to create a chameleon mascot that appeared in some areas of the website with positive messaging. Video’s were made to assist the content and give the user a unique look into the workplace where actual employees would talk about their job and the perks to their work environment. The website was extremely well received by both the client and jobseekers. It also won multiple web awards for the client. For HR Adworks, it created a new line of business with unique company jobsites. It was personally a very rewarding project and a springboard for me professionally.
